5,000 Palestinians riot on Israel-Gaza border, 3 infiltrators detained. Thousands of Palestinian rioters staged massive violent demonstrations on Friday near the Israeli border, attacking IDF troops with improvised weapons.
Approximately 5,000 Palestinians rioted at three locations on the Israel-Gaza Strip border on Friday, hurling rocks, firebombs and explosive devices at IDF troops.
According to health officials in Hamas-ruled Gaza, around 40 Palestinians were hurt in Friday’s unrest.
No Israeli casualties were reported.
Friday violence on the border has been a near-weekly occurrence since the Hamas-orchestrated “Great March of Return” demonstrations began in March 2018.
Earlier this week, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu held a Security Cabinet meeting at an IDF base near the Gaza border.
“Our policy is clear: We want to restore the calm, but at the same time we are also prepared for a wide-ranging military campaign, if it proves necessary,” he said. “These are my instructions to the IDF.”

Circa 5.000 palestinesi sono insorti in tre luoghi sul confine tra Israele e Striscia di Gaza venerdì, scagliando pietre, bombe incendiarie e ordigni esplosivi alle truppe dell'IDF.
Secondo i funzionari della sanità nella Gaza governata da Hamas, circa 40 palestinesi sono rimasti feriti nei disordini di venerdì.
Non sono state segnalate vittime israeliane.
Venerdì le violenze al confine sono avvenute quasi settimanalmente da quando le dimostrazioni "Grande marzo di ritorno" orchestrate da Hamas sono iniziate nel marzo 2018.
All'inizio di questa settimana, il primo ministro israeliano Benjamin Netanyahu ha tenuto una riunione del Gabinetto di sicurezza presso una base dell'IDF vicino al confine di Gaza.
"La nostra politica è chiara: vogliamo ripristinare la calma, ma allo stesso tempo siamo anche pronti per una vasta campagna militare, se necessario", ha detto. "Queste sono le mie istruzioni per l'IDF".
